Matangirau Kindergarten team Gina Wright (Head Teacher), Donna Swannell (Teacher) and Ruiha Christie are highly motivated and excited about celebrating children’s learning through sustainable education based on strong values.

Our teaching team is about being a part of the Wairoa community. The children are given opportunities to embrace their kindergarten setting, making connections and developing relationships with places of importance, through stories, waiata, visitors, or outings.

We believe in encouraging and supporting children to be curious, to explore and gain knowledge, and involve family and community at different levels. We value the opportunities to network with colleagues and the wider community.
The unique framework of Matangirau Kindergarten in Wairoa is that we coexist at the back of Tiaho School grounds.   The Kindergarten is situated at 104 Black St, Wairoa. The kindergarten opening times is Monday – Friday  8.30am – 3.15pm,

At Matangirau Kindergarten we believe children develop and gain a sense of belonging through opportunities to develop reciprocal responsibility to care for themselves, the environment and others, their families, whanau and visitors to our kindergarten.
